We have done much thinking on the appropriate guard animal for our alpaca herd and have decided that a llama would best suit our needs.  A guard llama is common on alpaca farms, as well as Livestock Guardian Dogs.  There are pros and cons to both; whatever works best for your farm is the best choice.
